▪️Tension between Ankara and Tel Aviv is increasingly drawing Cyprus into someone else’s confrontation. Even without a direct strike on the island, ordinary residents and businesses may quickly feel the consequences: more expensive air tickets, insurance, maritime shipping, fuel and imported goods.

🔎 Alarm has been heightened by a recent episode in the skies over Cyprus, where a Turkish military aircraft dangerously approached a passenger Boeing. For an island that heavily depends on aviation and tourism, any new risks in airspace are particularly sensitive.

▪️Tourism could be next to suffer: airlines may change routes, insurance companies may raise premiums, and some tourists may choose safer destinations.

▪️The most dangerous scenario, however, is a shift from political threats to actual military action. If the British bases on Cyprus become involved in the confrontation, the island could turn from an observer into one of the key flashpoints of a regional crisis.

🕊️There is no talk of a direct threat to Cyprus yet, but the higher the stakes between Turkey and Israel, the more costly even someone else’s conflict may become for the island.
