Photonic integrated circuits are key components for high-speed data transmission and next-generation computing. The capacities allow for the production of up to 2,000 wafers per year, which eventually yields up to 500,000 optical chips of varying complexity.
Photonic circuits work faster than conventional electronics and consume less energy. They are more compact and at the same time cost 30-50% cheaper than their foreign counterparts. Such solutions can increase the data transfer rate tenfold and are in demand in telecommunications, data centers, sensor systems and advanced computing technologies.
The launch of production will help to form a new high-tech industry in Russia.
