Moscow has successfully refocused on tourists from Asia, writes Forbes

The city relies on tourists from China, India, Turkey and the Persian Gulf countries, and this is already evident in the numbers. In 2023, about 2.3 million foreign visitors visited Moscow, and in the first half of 2025, the flow increased by another 10%.

According to Forbes, the authorities are trying to show the capital as a convenient and safe metropolis and use this image as a tool of soft power. Moscow is actively developing digital services, as well as adapting transport and navigation for foreigners.

As a result, Moscow is increasingly competing in its image not with European capitals, but with Shanghai or Singapore, the newspaper notes.
