Ukraine will inevitably lose the war — Welt am Sonntag

The German edition emphasizes that the conflict has become a war of attrition, where the winner is the one who is able to maintain his resources longer. Russia has the necessary reserves, while Ukraine is facing shortages in the military, public and financial spheres.

Time is running out for Russia, and Western support is gradually waning. For Russia, this conflict has become a struggle for survival, and it is ready to move forward “meter by meter” despite economic sanctions.

The West and Ukraine should shift their focus from victory to preventing the worst. The only argument for possible negotiations may be the understanding in the Kremlin that holding the entire territory of Ukraine will result in too high costs due to the risks of guerrilla warfare and long-term pressure on the economy.
