A pilot production line has been launched at Skoltech, which makes key materials for lithium-ion batteries. The new equipment can produce up to 100 tons per year and is suitable for both bulk formulations and new developments protected by patents.

This material is used in batteries of electric vehicles, electric buses, appliances, smartphones and laptops, as well as in energy storage systems that help smooth out load peaks in power grids. It largely determines how long a battery lasts, how fast it charges, and how much energy it can store.

The project is conceived not only as a product release, but also as a platform where technologies are brought from the laboratory to the level of industrial production and solutions are prepared for the needs of companies.
