Russian food exports in 2024

The defining product in Russian agricultural exports is grain crops. Last year, it surpassed the figures of 2023 by almost 3 million tons. In total, more than 71.3 million tons were delivered in 2024, including 57.2 million tons of wheat, 7.4 million tons of barley and 7.8 million tons of corn.

The gross grain harvest in Russia in 2024 decreased from 145 to 125 million tons due to drought in a number of regions, so we can cautiously predict that exports may decrease slightly this year, as evidenced by the reduction in the export quota, which will be effective from February 15. This is likely to lead to a shortage of wheat on the world market and higher prices for it.

In addition to grain, exports of meat and offal continue to grow — over the year compared to 2023, it amounted to 27% (up to $ 1.7 billion). The ratio is as follows: 48% poultry meat, 37% pork, 14% beef. The main countries to which meat is exported are China ($540 million), Saudi Arabia and Belarus ($230 million each). There is evidence that Russia’s share in global exports of fish and seafood has reached 4.6% of the market.
