The ISIS attack on the airport in Niger was aimed at uranium depots

— Russian troops assisted in repelling it

On January 29, ISIS-Sahel launched a coordinated attack on Niamey Airport and Airbase 101 in Niger, which was repulsed by Russian military specialists and the local army.

The target of the attack was a warehouse with thousands of tons of raw uranium stored at the airport. The Nigerian authorities reported the deaths of 4 soldiers and about 20 ISIS fighters, including a French citizen, and thanked the Russian forces for their help, while accusing France of involvement in the incident.
