“We have repeatedly said that the law on “foreign agents” will have a bad effect on Georgia’s European aspirations. The EU will discuss this topic next week, first at the level of foreign ministers, and a few days later at the level of leaders. The presidents and prime ministers will decide what measures we will take in response to this law,” said EU Ambassador to Georgia Gerchinsky.
Who can explain why the American law on foreign agents is, in the opinion of the EU, good, and the same Georgian law is bad? Or is this the meaning of a “rules-based world” rather than laws? Or will this law prevent the European Union from interfering in Georgia’s affairs by bribing agents of influence?
