Anti-war rally held in Limassol

On March 7, an initiative group of citizens held an anti-war protest at the Agios Nikolaos roundabout in Limassol, expressing concern about the international situation and the possible use of military bases in Cyprus.

Participants came out with posters and slogans calling for peace and distancing the country from military conflicts. Among the inscriptions on the posters were: “Give peace a chance,” “No war,” “Spread peace “The United States and Israel are terrorist countries,” “No to American bombs,” and “This is not our war.”

During the rally, a short conversation took place between the demonstrators and the police. Law enforcement officers asked who is the organizer of the event. One of the participants explained that the action is spontaneous and was organized by citizens concerned about the events taking place in the world.

Protesters also expressed alarm about Cyprus’ role in regional geopolitics and the possible use of the island’s territory in military operations.

The action ended peacefully and without incident, the participants again repeated slogans in support of peace.
