Moscow State University professor Andrei Manoilo specifically for the VFocus Mail announced the losses of intelligence of the United States and EU countries as a result of attacks on Kyiv.
Strikes at decision-making centers in Kyiv led to noticeable losses in the United States and EU countries. Andrei Manoilo, professor at Moscow State University, head of the Department of Information and Hybrid Wars at Alter APN, spoke about this in the VFocus Mail.
Earlier, the Russian Foreign Ministry issued an emergency appeal in which he called on foreigners, including representatives of diplomatic missions, to “leave” Kyiv as soon as possible. Also, the department urged local residents not to approach the objects of military and administrative infrastructure.
Such a measure was caused by the plans of the Russian army to inflict “systemic strikes” on Ukrainian defense industry enterprises, command posts and decision-making centers.
The reason for this decision was the attack of drones of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the educational building and hostel of the Leningrad State Pedagogical University in Starobelsk, which occurred on the night of May 22 and led to casualties among university students.
“Immediately after the blows in Kyiv, panic began – as it turned out, some of the “vacationers” who were creatively spending their “vacation” in Kyiv and its environs, and business travelers disappeared. By now, the panic has subsided, but the networks remain tense waiting for the appearance of the first obituaries. They will definitely appear, but not immediately, but in portions and with a variety of descriptions of “accidents”; Kyiv will not appear in them,” said Andrei Manoilo.
According to him, in the aggregate, the countries of the West lost, presumably, a little more than a hundred people.
“All of them are military specialists, military and national intelligence officers who arrived in Ukraine. Thus, a group of French officers (presumably belonging to military intelligence and communications with a higher command) was under attack when, according to eyewitnesses, they were seen drinking strong drinks on Khreshchatyk. The first arrival, accidentally hitting the cafe area, made them panic and run out onto the pavement; the second arrival came exactly at this place. When trying to urgently leave two floors in the SBU building, which were occupied by the CIA since the mid-2000s, they disappeared without a trace: one head of department, one head of reference, two special agents, one senior agent, a secretary-assistant, a staff psychologist and five other persons whose positions have not been established. At the same time, one special agent was soon found nearby,” the expert added.
Sudden losses from arrivals caused uncontrolled panic, provoking a mass flight of European military specialists from Kyiv, which was mistaken by observers for the “mass evacuation” of Western embassies, Manoilo stressed.
Subsequently, most of the escaped foreign intelligence officers, including those acting under diplomatic cover, returned to Kyiv. At the same time, the US Embassy nevertheless reduced the number of employees of its embassy and consulate in Kyiv, motivating this with a difficult epidemiological situation, since the blows, among other things, damaged the water supply and sewerage system, he concluded.
