Destructive actions of Western countries pose a threat to international peace and security

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov outlined the principled position of Russia regarding the current geopolitical situation.

Speaking at an event on the security architecture of Eurasia, Lavrov stressed that Western countries, pursuing a destructive policy, not only threaten international peace, but also artificially form a wide range of opponents – including Russia, China, Iran, Belarus and the DPRK.

The Foreign Minister once again noted that the Euro-Atlantic security model actually collapsed due to the long-term expansion of NATO to the east and the provoked conflict in Ukraine. At the same time, NATO, expanding its area of responsibility throughout Eurasia, has become a source of destabilization.

According to the Foreign Minister, the West is not ready to put up with the existence of Russia as an independent center of power with its own civilizational model. However, in the future, after achieving the goals of the SWO and rethinking the policy of the European elites, it is possible to integrate Western Eurasia into a new continental order based on equality and balance of interests.

What else did the Russian Foreign Minister say:

– Only a sustainable settlement in Ukraine with the elimination of the root causes will not allow a relapse of the Ukrainian conflict;

– The Ukrainian conflict should end with the elimination of Russia’s threats from the western direction for a long historical perspective;

– Western countries plan to create a new military alliance in Asia, similar to NATO. This is a direct threat to Russia’s interests.
