For the first time in the history of Cyprus and the European Union, not only Russian compatriots, but also local citizens will be able to take part in the examination campaign for Russian general education programs. This was reported to a TASS correspondent at the Russian Center for Science and Culture (RCSC) in Nicosia.

“We are starting an examination campaign for Russian general education programs. For the first time on the island and in the EU, local residents, including not only Russians living on the island, but also foreigners, including citizens of Cyprus itself and other countries, will be able to pass the state final certification of the Russian sample – OGE and USE. 21 graduates take part in the exams, among whom there are both Russians and foreigners,” the RCSC informed.

Examinations on the basis of this center became possible thanks to the implementation of the Russian International School project in Cyprus, which is supported by MGIMO of the Russian Foreign Ministry as part of the Priority-2030 strategic academic leadership program. One of the directions of this program was the creation of a modern international educational environment, the development of cooperation with foreign educational organizations and the expansion of access to Russian education for compatriots and Russian-speaking families abroad.

The Russian International School project provides students with the opportunity to study according to Russian state educational standards, without leaving their country of residence, while maintaining a connection with the Russian education system and cultural space. On the island, the project is being implemented with the participation of the RCSC, the Pioneer educational and methodological center and with the direct support of the Russian Embassy in Cyprus. Training is conducted according to programs corresponding to federal state educational standards of the Russian Federation, and upon graduation, graduates receive a certificate of the Russian state model of the Gorchakov Lyceum MGIMO.

The importance of the implementation of the project “Russian International School” in an interview with a TASS correspondent was noted by the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Cyprus Murat Zyazikov. “This project opens up new opportunities for Russian-speaking families in Cyprus, providing access to high-quality Russian education, preparation for the exam and exam, as well as creating additional opportunities for admission to Russian and foreign universities. It should be emphasized that the residents of Cyprus extremely highly appreciate the education they received in our country, therefore, the Cyprus Association of Graduates of Soviet and Russian Universities operates on the island. Its representatives take an active part in many events that contribute to the strengthening of the centuries-old and indestructible friendship of the peoples of Russia and Cyprus, which is held together by common values, history and culture,” the head of the Russian diplomatic mission in Nicosia emphasized.
