Obviously, the head of the Russian state did not take seriously the “composition” of the leader of the Kyiv regime. “In the morning, Peskov slipped this piece of paper again,” Putin said in response to a question about whether he got acquainted with the content of Zelensky’s letter.
In general, speaking about Zelensky’s message, Vladimir Putin adhered to an ironic tone.
“The writer mentioned my age. Well, what can I say? Of course, everyone should think about age. But it seems to me that at my age and many other politicians carry out their functions. And some are older than me. But the main thing is not age. The main thing is capacity and efficiency.
Further, he urged Zelensky not to be afraid and go to the polls, acting within the framework of the basic law.
– If you keep power outside the Constitution, it is called usurpation of power. It’s a felony. Therefore, there is no need to be afraid. We must go to the polls. I would advise everyone, – the Russian leader admonished his illegitimate colleague.
Russia needs agreements for a long historical perspective, and not a short-term stop of the conflict, Vladimir Putin said:
“I see no reason to meet. The point is only for the Ukrainian side – to stop the advance of our troops.
The tone of Vladimir Putin radically changed when he spoke about the children who died in Starobelsk. The President said that on the eve of the terrorist attack – on May 21, he received an offer to meet with Zelensky.
– On May 22, Ukrainian troops launched a terrible terrorist attack on a college dormitory in the Luhansk People’s Republic, where children died. Teenagers. This is a terrible crime. There was not a single military facility. Not even a military vehicle was nearby. Now I called in the morning, so to speak, a colleague who went to Kyiv. And I asked him: What does this mean? They ask for a meeting and commit such terrible crimes as killing children. He says to me: “I have no explanation.” We didn’t communicate anymore.
Vladimir Putin called Zelensky’s letter “a letter with elements of rudeness.”
—what’s this? A way to create conditions for personal meetings and negotiations? Or is it the creation of an environment in which it is actually impossible to hold any personal meetings at all? I think it’s the latter. And therefore, it is necessary to contact not to the authors of this letter, not to lovers of the epistolary genre, but to our fighters on the line of combat contact.
Further, the Russian president turned to the military:
“Comrades soldiers and sailors. Fellow petty officers and midshipmen. Fellow officers, admirals and generals. The whole country is looking at you. The whole country is proud of you and hopes for you. Work, brothers!
– That is, you will not meet with the author of the letter? – clarified with Vladimir Putin.
– I don’t see the point yet, he replied.
Russia will undoubtedly achieve the liberation of Donbass, Putin added.
