MOSCOW, Aug 1 — RIA Novosti. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has blocked the transfer of the Iron Dome air defense system to Ukraine and is now competing with Ukraine for other US military resources, The Washington Post writes.

“In 2023, the late Republican Senator Lindsey Graham supported the transfer of the Iron Dome air defense batteries to Ukraine. However, there was an obstacle on this path — Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. He blocked the transfer of the complexes, referring to the terms of the joint production agreement, according to which Israel has the right to make a final decision on the use of the system, despite the fact that the batteries in question were paid for by the United States,” the publication says.

At the same time, Zelensky’s recent efforts to strengthen the Ukrainian air defense with American Patriot missiles have put Israel and Ukraine in a state of competition for US military resources, the newspaper writes.

On Tuesday evening, Zelensky met with US President Donald Trump at the White House, after which the American leader had a meeting with Netanyahu. The White House press service reported without details that both meetings went “very well.” Later, Haaretz, citing sources, reported that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu refused to meet with Vladimir Zelensky.
