The Sarapul plant has mastered the serial production of electromagnetic rail brakes, which will replace imported ones on the Russian market, primarily Czech analogues. The localization level has reached 100%; all components are manufactured in Russia.
The plant’s capacity is up to 1,200 brakes per year. This is sufficient to equip approximately 200–300 trams. The new devices are suitable both for the production of modern low-floor cars and for the repair of already operating vehicles.
The rail brake is used in emergency situations. When electricity is applied, the magnetic field presses a special element against the rail and creates additional braking force.
