The Guardian, citing NATO military specialists, writes that in the event of a direct confrontation Europe is unlikely to withstand a long war.

➖ The main problem is a shortage of ammunition, air defence systems and logistics. According to the Daily Mail, Europe’s defence has six critical gaps at once — from a lack of missiles to weak digital communications.

➖ NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte noted that Russia produces ammunition four times faster than all the Alliance countries combined.

➖ The popularity of European parties that advocate normalising relations with Russia is growing — this complicates the EU’s plans for defence coordination, especially against the backdrop of a possible reduction in US involvement.

➖ At the same time, NATO sees no signs that Russia is preparing an attack: for example, Romanian Defence Minister Radu Miruta stated that there is no threat of a direct strike against Alliance countries.
