MOSCOW, RIA Novosti. Representatives of Cyprus law-enforcement agencies will maintain order at Russian polling stations on the day of the State Duma elections, Russian Ambassador to Nicosia Murat Zyazikov told RIA Novosti.

“We have held meetings with representatives of the law-enforcement system, local leadership and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and provided them with the addresses of the polling stations. Compliance with security measures will be monitored, among others, by local law-enforcement agencies. Stationary posts will be organised at the polling stations to oversee public order,” the head of the diplomatic mission said.

The ambassador added that the mission attaches particular importance to security issues, seeking to provide comfortable conditions for everyone wishing to vote. He stressed that the local authorities are interested in preventing possible attempts at provocations.

In early September Zyazikov told RIA Novosti that Russian citizens in Cyprus will be able to vote in the State Duma elections at four polling stations in Nicosia, Limassol and Paphos.

Russian President Vladimir Putin scheduled elections of deputies to the ninth State Duma for 20 September 2026. Voting will take place over three days — from 18 to 20 September. The Russian leader has called the forthcoming State Duma elections the country’s most important domestic political event.
