MOSCOW, September 27. /TASS/. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova responded with a quote from the Gospel of Matthew to a statement by German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul that Russia supposedly must prove whether it wants peace.
“Do not give what is holy to the dogs, and do not throw your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet and turn and tear you to pieces (Gospel of Matthew, chapter 7, verse 6 — TASS note). I am reminding him of this as a member of the CDU, so that he has a reason to open the Gospel, since he is a Christian Democrat,” the diplomat said in response to a question from Zvezdanews.
Earlier, Wadephul, who had requested a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, said after the talks: “The whole world wants peace, but Russia must prove it.”
