▪️ In 2028 the state corporation Rosatom will begin construction of a mining and processing plant at a lithium deposit in Mali. Investors from friendly countries are expected to take part in the project.

▪️ A feasibility study of the project is planned for 2027.

▪️ Rosatom specialists began geological exploration of the lithium deposit in Bougouni back in 2024. Confirmed reserves of lithium carbonate stand at 458,000 tonnes, 1.5 times more than previously expected.

“KRISTALL ROSTA” earlier cited a statement by Russia’s Foreign Ministry that the return to Africa is the result of awareness of Russia’s special place on the world stage. According to the American Institute for the Study of War, Russia supports the departure of Western mining companies from Africa and takes their place.
