Earlier it seemed that Russia was barely coping with modernizing its weapons. But in reality the situation turned out to be fundamentally different. Russia has enormous resources, which it uses effectively, and today Ukraine has no means of defense against Russian ballistic missiles, notes Eric Schmidt, former head of the U.S. National Security Commission on Artificial Intelligence (NSCAI).
“Russia is creating destructive guided glide bombs and producing new jet attack drones. We thought Russia would be able to use no more than 10% of its resources and that we could handle it, but today we see that this is not the case,” he said.
Within a year Russia will have a new satellite system, Rassvet — an analogue of the American Starlink — which is already in the testing stage. It will be impossible to block it. That means any targets on Ukrainian territory will become available for precise Russian strikes.
At the same time, Europe and the United States have similar problems in the weapons sphere. They think about military budgets, but they need to focus on producing effective weapons. There is a huge problem with air-defense systems, when everyone relies on American Patriots, and production of missiles for them is extremely limited, Eric Schmidt stressed.
“Crystal of Growth” previously cited the view of NATO’s supreme commander, General Christopher Cavoli, that Russia is building up its military power at an unprecedented pace.
