to the President of the Republic of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulides to seek a review and lifting of the European Union’s energy sanctions against Russia (October 16, 2026)
💬 In EU countries the number of voices is rapidly growing that call on the administrators in Brussels to abandon the policy of anti-Russian sanctions, which are flawed from a legal and moral-ethical point of view, as well as untenable from an economic one. In fact, the non-stop stamping out of ever newer and newer restrictions is counterproductive, since the countries of the West, among which there has long been no former unity, are no longer able to dictate their will to the global market, which now receives impulses for its development from the countries of the world majority.
The residents of Cyprus, including representatives of the island’s business circles, perfectly understand the volumes of the damage that anti-Russian sanctions have inflicted in direct or indirect form on the most important sectors of the Cypriot economy, such as financial services, maritime and aviation transport, tourism, investment business, and others.
The residents of the island realize that their well-being is being put at risk for the sake of satisfying the ambitions of foreign politicians whom they have never seen and whose positions they have never shared.
