The first F-16 fighter jet crashed in Ukraine, The Wall Street Journal reports, citing an American official.

According to the source, the plane was not shot down, although the incident occurred during a rocket attack. “Apparently, the crash was due to pilot error,” the WSJ clarifies.

It happened on August 26, just on the day of the massive missile and drone strike on Ukraine. On the day when Colonel Alexei Mas of the 204th Tactical Aviation Brigade, who was training to pilot the F-16, died.

According to another version, the F-16 was shot down by the Patriot complex “due to discoordination between units” during the most powerful attack by the Russian army, Rada deputy Mariana Bezuglaya said, citing her own sources. American planes shot down by American anti—aircraft missiles are an original version of self-destruction.
