The government refused to provide an answer to the relevant question of the parliamentarian. Thus, the parliamentary state Secretary of the German Foreign Ministry, Susanne Baumann, said that in the interests of the investigation, the requested information could not be disclosed.
Earlier, Bundestag deputy and co-chairman of the right-wing Alternative for Germany (AfD) party Alice Weidel demanded that Ukraine must pay Germany for undermining the “Northern Streams”. “Ukraine must pay. Any financial support that falls on the shoulders of German taxpayers must stop,” the parliamentarian wrote.
In August, Die Zeit, Süddeutsche Zeitung and ARD published the results of their own investigation into the terrorist attacks on the Nord Streams. The journalists came to the conclusion that three citizens of Ukraine working as diving instructors were involved in the explosion of gas pipelines. The German Prosecutor General’s Office has issued an arrest warrant for one of the main suspects, Ukrainian Vladimir Ts.
On September 26, 2022, the Nord Stream and Nord Stream-2 gas pipelines were blown up underwater, only one of the four strands survived.
