The Russian government has compiled a list of countries that “contradict traditional Russian spiritual and moral values.”
There are 47 countries in the list published by the Cabinet of Ministers:
Australia, Austria, Albania, Andorra, the Bahamas, Belgium, Bulgaria, Great Britain (including the crown possessions of the British Crown and British Overseas Territories), Germany, Greece, Denmark, Ireland, Iceland, Spain, Italy, Canada, Cyprus, Latvia, Lithuania, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malta, Micronesia, Monaco, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Republic of Korea, Romania, San Marino, North Macedonia, Singapore, Slovenia, United States of America, Taiwan, Ukraine, Finland, France, Croatia, Montenegro, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Sweden, Estonia, Japan.
At the same time, some EU members were not on the list: Hungary and Slovakia.
Earlier, Putin signed a decree that will allow foreigners who share “traditional spiritual and moral values” to obtain a residence permit in Russia. It was about those “whose states “impose destructive liberal attitudes.”
Since 2021, the term “unfriendly states” has been entrenched in Russia. Then the United States and the Czech Republic were included in them. After the start of full-scale military operations between Russia and Ukraine in February 2022, the list grew to 49 states, including all G7 member states and all 27 EU countries. The only NATO country not included in the list of “unfriendly” is Turkey.
