On Sunday, a march and rally in support of traditional family values took place in the center of Nicosia. The event was organized by the Parent Movement “For Our Children” with the support of the Coordinating Council of Russian Compatriots (CSRS) of Cyprus.

The participants of the action carried the flags of Cyprus, Greece and Russia, as well as a tricolor with the emblem of the traditional family “Mom, Dad, I am a happy family.” This tricolor has become a symbol of the unification of the citizens of Cyprus in the struggle for the rights of family and children.

The protesters opposed mandatory comprehensive sexual education, which should be conducted from preschool to high school in private and public schools. The country’s parliament and the President approved this document, following the recommendations of the EU. However, as noted in the CSRS, the law does not take into account religious or other beliefs and opinions of parents.
