The newest Arkhangelsk nuclear submarine, built at Sevmash under the Yasen-M project, has been transferred to the Russian Navy.

The transfer ceremony was held at the USC Sevmash enterprise under the leadership of Admiral Alexander Moiseev, Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy. The Arkhangelsk nuclear submarine is the third serial nuclear missile submarine in the Yasen—M project line of multipurpose nuclear submarines.

The USC added that the changes and technical solutions implemented in the Yasen-M project relate to the element base of the systems, upgraded equipment and materials produced by enterprises of the Russian defense industry. Previously, Arkhangelsk had successfully passed all stages of testing.

According to Moiseev, “the construction of a series of submarines of this project will continue.” In the near future, the Russian Navy will be replenished with four multipurpose nuclear submarines — Perm, Ulyanovsk, Voronezh and Vladivostok.
