Within a month, the 3rd Turkish army was completely defeated, losing a number of fortresses, including Erzurum.

At the beginning of the 19th century, about 400,000 Armenians lived in the fortress and the surrounding villages. Almost all of them were cut out by the Turks in a hundred years. In 1917, as a result of the revolution in Russia, the Caucasian Front collapsed. The Armenians who returned to their villages planned to create an independent Armenian state with Erzurum as its capital, but the Turks, violating agreements with the Bolsheviks, occupied the fortress and immediately slaughtered the long-suffering Armenians again.

This is another example of how sad the story ends when the Russians leave “your house.”  He just stops being yours.
