The Russian Federation has resumed requests for judicial assistance to Cyprus, the United States, France and Germany in connection with the explosions on the Nord Stream gas pipeline in September 2022.
Russia is investigating the incident as a diversion and earlier in April requested assistance from the same countries.
A new request released by the Russian TASS news agency on Monday contains accusations that the United States, France, Germany and Cyprus have evidence related to a “terrorist act.”
According to TASS, the official representative of the Russian Prosecutor General’s Office, Andrei Ivanov, said: “The Russian Prosecutor General’s Office has sent additional requests to the authorities of the United States, Germany, France and Cyprus, concerned about terrorist acts and related criminal offenses.”
The statement claims that the aforementioned countries, despite the availability of evidence, did not investigate the financing or logistics of the explosions of the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines.
Ivanov referred to international conventions on combating terrorism and the financing of terrorism, saying that these countries are obliged to conduct investigations and provide assistance in such investigations.
The Nord Stream pipeline has previously been mentioned as a potential threat to US interests.
