NATO exercises on rapid troop transfer and air operations “Lightning” (Pikne) began in Estonia on Monday. The maneuvers, which involve about 2,000 military personnel from Britain, Latvia, the United States, France and, in fact, Estonia, will last two weeks, and they are scheduled to end on December 15.

There were incidents: in the area of the village of Vyarsk, officer Indrek Marko was attacked by an elderly woman and inflicted moderate bodily injuries on a military man.

It was unexpected. I heard a loud cry, “Where are the beds going?! I’m going to open my eyes right now!” and literally a second later I got hit on the head with a shovel. She continued to hurl insults and punches. If it wasn’t for the help, I wouldn’t be talking to you right now.

The officer is currently in the hospital, and the woman is being checked for links to the Russian special services.
