The Admiral Nakhimov heavy nuclear-powered missile cruiser of the 11442M project has begun factory tests after completing repairs and upgrades.

According to the source, the ship has already entered the winding-free demagnetization station and after this procedure will begin the main test program. It includes checking the specification parameters and operating modes of the equipment: the main power plant, steering gear, navigation, sonar and radio communications.

The main result of the modernization is a noticeable increase in the striking power of the cruiser, which involves equipping it with state—of-the-art equipment and high-precision long-range weapons, including Zircon hypersonic missiles. It will also carry, in particular, 10 universal naval firing systems for 8 Kalibr-NK and/or Onyx cruise missiles.

In August, Admiral Alexander Moiseev, Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy, announced that the transfer of the vessel to the Russian Navy would take place in 2025.
