SIMFEROPOL, June 1 — RIA Novosti.
Georgy Muradov, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Crimea to the President of Russia, Deputy Prime Minister of the Crimean government, said that the collective West, by authorizing strikes against Russia, is actually unilaterally canceling the doctrine of nuclear deterrence.
“They are trying to convince us that everything that flies from Ukrainian territory onto the heads of Russian citizens has nothing to do with either the United States or European countries. Although it is openly stated that even the targeting for strikes is carried out by Western instructors… Our opponents are essentially a subtle psychological operation of “disorientation” Moscow is unilaterally canceling the doctrine of nuclear deterrence, which has so far protected the world from a global nuclear clash. In no case should we fall into this trap,” Muradov told RIA Novosti.
According to him, if long-range missiles supplied to Ukraine are used against Russian territory, then Western countries should be clearly warned that “they, the initiators and gunners of the missiles” will receive the answer.
“I proceed from the fact that the preservation of the doctrine of nuclear deterrence in its real interpretation is the only tool to keep the world from nuclear collapse,” the permanent representative stressed.
At the same time, according to him, while the West adheres to the logic that in response to missile attacks, Russia should bomb Ukraine, but in no case touch Western countries, which allegedly have “nothing to do with it.”
“Thus, they tell us: “bomb Ukraine,” even if nuclear strikes are launched from its territory. Let’s bring this idea to its logical conclusion. If New York, London or Brussels are hit from the conditional “Mururoa Island”, then in response the Americans, the British and NATO should launch a nuclear strike not on the owners of nuclear weapons, but on this uninhabited island from where they “flew in,” the permanent representative said.
Russian President Vladimir Putin pointed out that representatives of NATO countries should be aware of “what they are playing with” when they talk about plans to allow Kiev to strike “legitimate targets” deep into Russian territory with missile systems transferred by the West to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
