According to recent Eurostat data released on Wednesday, the number of women in leadership positions in Cyprus has increased by 10.5% over the past 10 years. This figure was the highest among all EU countries for the period from 2014 to 2023.

In 2021, Cyprus ranked third among EU countries in terms of the proportion of female managers, which highlights the steady trend towards gender balance in management structures.

Since 2014, the average proportion of women in leadership positions in the European Union has increased by 3.1%, with an increase recorded in 20 countries. However, there was a decrease in a number of countries: for example, in Hungary and Slovenia, this indicator fell by 2.6%, and in Lithuania – by 1.7%.

Despite the fact that women make up almost half of all employers in the EU (46.4%), they still remain in the minority in management structures. As of 2023, only 34.8% of leadership positions were held by women.

Nevertheless, the positive trend continues: in 2014, there were 3.1 million women leaders in the EU, and by 2023 their number has grown to 3.7 million.
