On August 20, 2025, a meeting of the Youth Club of Compatriots and the “Hello, Russia!” Club was held at the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Nicosia.
The participants of the meeting summarized the results of their August 2025 trip to Khanty-Mansiysk, shared their impressions, discussed the outcomes, and outlined plans for the second half of the year.
Special attention was paid to how youth initiatives in the field of international and intercultural communication resonate with the important date of the 100th anniversary of people’s diplomacy in Russia.
The students who participated in the “Hello, Russia” program shared their experiences of their visit to the Arctic. Ice is Breaking All-Russian Youth Forum-Festival in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug-Yugra. The program was rich and diverse, ranging from exploring ethnographic exhibits that revealed the origins of cultural heritage to visiting the High-Tech Technopark, a symbol of the country’s innovative development.
The work of the Humanitarian Volunteer Corps, which implements initiatives in the field of intercultural interaction and public diplomacy, made a particularly strong impression. It was here that young people felt a sense of belonging to the tradition of people’s diplomacy, which has been uniting people through culture, mutual assistance, and humanitarian missions for over a century.
“Through creation, conscience, and justice, we achieve results,” is the motto of the corps, which resonates with the principles of people’s diplomacy that were established a century ago and remain relevant today.
The participants noted that participation in humanitarian missions has become an invaluable experience: it has made it possible to understand that public diplomacy is not only negotiations, but also lively human communication based on support and trust.
At the end of the meeting, new projects and initiatives were discussed. The Annual Cyprus Youth Forum “Fururum: Be Yourself!”, dedicated to the celebration of the 100th anniversary of people’s diplomacy, will be held in November 2025. It will serve as a platform for young people from different countries to come together to create joint diplomatic initiatives and continue the tradition of people-to-people diplomacy.
