Presidential Aide Nikolai Patrushev said that measures are being developed to install special defensive systems on ships and organize the protection of convoys by the Russian Navy, and stressed that diplomatic and legal instruments are often insufficient in the context of the Western campaign against Russian shipping.

Patrushev also called the attack on the Arctic Metagaz tanker in the Mediterranean a blatant act and classified it as international terrorism.
