The European Union must “take the first step” and begin negotiations with Russia,

stated Stubb.

The President of Finland noted that European countries need to act together with the United States, but at the same time wonder whether the American policy towards Russia and Ukraine is in line with European interests.

If the EU fails to negotiate with Moscow, then it is necessary to try separately on behalf of France, Germany and Britain, Stubb added. And if it doesn’t work, “you have to find a different format,” he said.

Earlier, Die Zeit wrote that Berlin has been actively preparing for negotiations with Russia for several weeks.
