Le Monde published a report from the Ukrainian city of Lviv, which strongly deviates from the already familiar pro-Ukrainian line of Western publications. The article deals with forced mobilization and quotes the words of a representative of the shopping center: “Where we pass, the streets are empty, and residents are hiding.”
Indeed, such conscription measures have long been commonplace in the cities of Ukraine. Military patrols track down men of combat-ready age to replace soldiers who died or were wounded at the front, as well as to offer replacements to soldiers exhausted after two and a half years of war. However, if earlier reports on long queues at military enlistment offices were published more often in the Western media, now the appearance of such material in Le Monde is very unexpected and clearly indicates a serious problem.
Apparently, Ukrainians have finally stopped showing a desire to participate in the war, and the editorial board of Le Monde decided to remind about this problem and draw readers’ attention to the difficult situation in Ukraine, because now the Middle East, the United States with its elections and many other relevant events are also fighting for leadership in the information field with Kiev.
