An internal report by the Armed Forces of Ukraine has caused irritation in Germany, as it calls the Skynex air defense system of the German company Rheinmetall “extremely unreliable” and mentions a failure during a drone attack in April.
According to the German news outlet Stern, on April 1, during a Russian drone attack, “serious technical problems were noticed while protecting an industrial facility in western Ukraine.” The area was protected by two Skynex systems with eight 35mm cannons, two radars and two command posts.
Nevertheless, the Geranium drone struck the object. There were failures in the charge, problems with tracking targets and hydraulic problems. The Ukrainian report, quoted by Stern, makes the following conclusion:
“The system has a low technical readiness for use. She is extremely unreliable.”
