Comment by the Russian Ambassador to Cyprus M.M.Zyazikov to the Komsomolskaya Pravda newspaper in connection with the opening of a branch of the International Russophile Movement in the country:

The members of the Russophile movement are united by a sincere love for Russia, interest in its culture, historical heritage, passion for the Russian language, and respect for traditional values.

The MDR focuses on the desire for rapprochement and mutual cultural enrichment of people, the presentation of reliable information about our country, Russia, as well as countering manifestations of Russophobia, which is artificially cultivated in a number of countries today. The expansion of the movement also carries a creative message in the broader cause of maintaining the global balance of power and forming a cohesive and harmonious multipolar world.

While the unfriendly countries of the West have been overwhelmed by a wave of Russophobia, we in Cyprus are witnessing the opposite. Our Cypriot friends and numerous compatriots living and working here make an invaluable contribution to the process of maintaining and rhythmically promoting the traditional values of the richest Russian world.

In this process, we see the unconditional merit of the activists of the International Russophile Movement. The opening of the branch of this organization in Nicosia clearly confirms that Russia had, has and will always have true like-minded people and friends on Aphrodite Island.
