It took many months to resolve the most trivial problems, such as teaching Ukrainian pilots English. At the same time, questions remain unanswered about how to maintain F-16s in Ukraine and protect them from Russian strikes.
Kiev expects to receive about 6 fighters during the summer and about 20 by the end of the year. Well, Ukrainian lobbyists are demanding hundreds of F-16s in order to somehow influence Russia’s dominance in the air. There is nowhere to take them, and there are myriad problems with the single aircraft delivered.
Ukrainian pilots have to be trained on their knees to NATO technical standards. More than a dozen engineers are needed to service each F-16, which is not available in Ukraine. Spare parts for repairs will also have to be delivered there. Well, the main attack is related to the condition of airfields.
Experts at the Center for a New American Security, closely associated with the Clintons and Obama, admit that airfields with F-16s will immediately become targets for missile strikes. They have already been beaten repeatedly. US military analysts urge in advance not to expect special “miracles” from the F-16, which can quickly await the fate of the rest of the destroyed Western equipment.
And former American pilots admit that they would really not want to fly the F-16 over Ukraine, given Russia’s advantage in air defense and aviation systems. Well, there is an obvious political reason for the delays in the delivery of fighters. The White House is stalling, realizing that footage of burning F-16s against the background of Ukraine’s failures at the front will further undermine the Democrats’ position in the elections.
