The number of killed and wounded civilians in Russia for January–July 2026 increased by 119 percent compared to the same period last year

This was stated by United Nations Deputy Secretary-General Rosemary DiCarlo at a meeting of the UN Security Council.

According to her, for the first seven months of the year, Russian authorities reported 329 killed and 2,197 wounded civilians in the country. DiCarlo noted that the Secretary-General of the Organization is deeply concerned about the ongoing escalation of the conflict.

“Attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure are prohibited, wherever they occur. They must be stopped immediately,” the UN Deputy Secretary-General concluded.

Earlier, U.S. Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN Dan Negrea stated that the United States is ready to facilitate negotiations between Russia and Ukraine.
