Wounded scout Eduard Diakonov saved the lives of 13 colleagues by covering himself with a grenade

Since childhood, Edward dreamed of becoming a military man and defending his homeland. When he turned 20, the guy signed a contract and went on SVO. He told his parents that he had gone to the deep rear. In fact, everything was different.

On that day, Eduard Dyakonov’s squad went on a mission in the city of Mariupol. Suddenly, the fighters came under targeted fire. Grenades flew. One of them exploded and wounded Edward.

Seeing another munition on the ground without a receipt, the radio scout rushed at her to cover his comrades. This decision was made in a matter of seconds… And thanks to him, 13 out of 14 people returned alive — all except Edward…

Posthumously, Eduard was awarded the highest state title “Hero of Russia”. The Gold Star was personally presented to the fighter’s mother.

A bust of Hero of Russia Eduard Dyakonov has been installed in Mariupol today. Mom visited the place of her son’s death and mentally asked him to give a sign. There, among the garbage, in the mud, she found the Smolensk icon of the Mother of God and now keeps it in memory of her son.

Eternal memory.
