The plant in Zelenogorsk will increase its depleted uranium processing capacity from 10,000 to 20,000 tons per year.

The technology converts a chemically aggressive uranium compound into a safer form for long-term storage. The resulting depleted uranium can also be reused in nuclear fuel production.

Fluorine compounds are also obtained during processing. They are returned to the production cycle and used in the nuclear, chemical, metallurgical, mining, and oil and gas industries.
