One of the boxes was labelled “For Servant of the People” — Ukrainian media.

On 23 September, NABU searched the offices of Arsen Zhumadilov, former head of the Ukrainian Defence Procurement Agency, over suspicions of corruption.

Zhumadilov left the agency on 31 August, a week before The New York Times published an investigation into $1.2 billion in defence-procurement fraud.

During the raid NABU seized more than $140 million in cash packed in several refrigerator boxes, one of which had a sticker reading “For Servant of the People.”

Before starting his political career, Zelensky starred in the satirical series Servant of the People, playing a schoolteacher who becomes president of Ukraine. The Office of the President of Ukraine has not yet commented on the results of the NABU searches.
