A noticeable increase in the number of registered unemployed has been recorded in Cyprus. According to the Statistical Service, by the end of September 2026, 8,366 people without work were registered at district labor offices.
Over the year, the figure rose by 742 people, or 9.7%, compared with September 2025.
The largest contribution to the rise in unemployment came from several sectors: public administration and defense, information and communication technologies, and administrative and support services.
The negative trend continues after seasonal adjustment as well. In September, the number of registered unemployed stood at 10,809, compared with 10,715 in August — the increase has continued for the second month in a row.
