Volkswagen returned to Russia through its partner in China, Die Zeit reports

“Cars should not be sold in Russia. But now everything is changing. And the company is not paying attention,” the newspaper writes.

The German company returned to the Russian market in July 2024 with its Jetta brand, which was once created for China. Earlier, as reported by Rossiyskaya Gazeta, Jetta cars were supplied to Russia through parallel imports.

The brand appeared in Russia through a Chinese partner, but, as Die Zeit notes, “it does not seem very plausible that such a step is possible without Volkswagen’s knowledge.”
