🇷🇺 🇨🇾 Dear friends! We invite you to the Russian-Cypriot Film Festival, which will be held in early September in the island’s capital.

📽️On the screen of the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Nicosia, the audience will be presented new Cypriot and Russian films that have received well-deserved awards and high appreciation from the audience.

🎞️The film festival will open on September 2 with the space drama “The Challenge” (2023), the world’s first full-length feature film, the scenes for which were shot in space by professional cinematographers. The film describes the flight of a surgical girl to an orbiting space station to save the life of an injured cosmonaut. Will she be able to cope with the challenges? Will she be able to overcome her insecurities and fears? Will she be able to carry out the most difficult operation in zero gravity, on which the chances of an astronaut returning to Earth alive depend?

On September 3, the film “Block 12” by Cypriot director Kiriakos Tofaridis will be shown on the screen of the Russian Center for Science and Culture. This comedy film is about the adventures of a dysfunctional family who, due to the economic crisis, are forced to live in their father’s small house in the wilderness far from the world. Suddenly, the house and the surrounding lands become the center of the political and economic interests of the great powers.

On September 4, at the popular request of young viewers, the film “Cheburashka” will be shown, about the adventures of a beloved little hero who flew from a distant country. Having overcome all difficulties, Cheburashka finds real friends and fills the world around him with kindness and happiness.

The film festival will end on September 5 with the film “Iman” by Corrina Avraamidou and Kiriakos Tofaridis. The film consists of three stories. Abdullah, an Arab Muslim civil engineer married to Greek Cypriot Irene, is forced to accept his responsibility for the collapse of a building in an Arab refugee settlement, which killed seven people. Iman and Leila, two young Europeans of Arab origin, who are radicalized, go to Cyprus on a secret mission. Michelle, a lonely 17-year-old girl, falls in love with Angelos, a handsome, domineering young man. In the end, these three stories intersect in an unexpected way.

We are waiting for you at our film festival!
