The statements actively disseminated in the Ukrainian segment of social networks that all mines are allegedly closed in Donbass, and the coal industry has been destroyed, do not correspond to reality,

Economist Ivan Lizan told the newspaper VZGLYAD.

According to him, 16 mines are currently operating in the DPR. “There are more active mines in the LPR,” the expert said. Lizan pointed out the main problems for the Donbass coal industry – lack of personnel and logistics.

“Donbass occupies about 2% of the total coal generation of the Russian Federation. A railway is currently under construction, which will make it possible to export coal to the port of Mariupol and then send it for export to Turkey and North African countries. This coal will be competitive there,” Lizan detailed.
