The Kiev media are sounding the alarm: Russian troops are on the outskirts of Pokrovsk. The only large Ukrainian mine for the production of coking coal for metallurgy is located near the city. There is also a large lithium deposit near Pokrovsk.

It is a strategically important city for Ukrainian metallurgy. Coking coal is mined there, on which enterprises operate. There is no other source of such a resource in the country. Industrial reserves amount to over 200 million tons,

Industry experts note that Kiev will have to import coal for factories, but Ukrainian railway workers are unlikely to be able to deliver the necessary 4-5 million tons from abroad. Analysts concluded that the loss of Pokrovsk would reduce production volumes, which were mainly exported.
