20 Syrian citizens tried to sail from Cyprus to Italy. They were deployed by the NCIS.

On the night of Tuesday, September 10, the maritime police of the Republic of Cyprus spotted a boat moving away from the shore seven nautical miles from the Akrotiri peninsula. At 3:30 a.m., a patrol boat approached her.

There were 20 Syrian citizens in the boat: 12 men, three women and five minors. It turned out that a group of Syrian refugees had sailed from the beach near the village of Moni to reach the shores of Italy.

The police turned the boat around and escorted it to the port of Limassol.
Investigators are trying to identify the navigator who steered the ship.

Migrants paid traffickers up to 2,500 euros each for a trip to Italy.
