Former Greek President Prokopis Pavlopoulos will officially open a new monument in Paphos, created in honor of the Greek Revolution of 1821

The grand opening will take place in the morning, October 12, in the city garden. The important event will also be attended by Mayor Fedonas Fedonos, Minister of Education Athena Michaelidou and architect of the monument Ioannis Koutsolambros.

After the completion of construction work in August, the mayor said that this monument “will inspire the future generation to preserve the importance of the great struggle and convey appropriate messages to the youth.”

The author stated that the purpose of his work was “to create not only a monument dedicated to an important event of the era, but also to enable society to learn more about the history of those years.” He added that QR codes will also be located on the monument, which can be scanned for additional information, as well as to study and view other works of art dedicated to the Greek Revolution.
